The Italian Commodity Aid Programme is a cooperation initiative existing among the interventions of the General Directorate for Development Cooperation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Italy, Bilateral Cooperation Office (MAE-DGCS-III), and it functions through the Programme office, located in Cairo, as part of the Cooperation Office of the Italian Embassy in Egypt. The Commodity Aid Programme allocated a total of 36 million Euros to import to Egypt essential goods and services thereto connected, manufactured in Italy. Egyptian Governmental and Private Organizations, including Joint Ventures and Egyptian entrepreneurs are eligible to apply.
Funds pursuant to this Programme can be used to import from Italy Capital goods, as machineries and equipment, and also raw materials and semi-finished materials. Funds can be also used to acquire services related to the supplies, including installation, assembling and training on the machineries and equipment. Priority fields of interest are: Agriculture and Irrigation; Industry including Tourism and Energy; Health.  The Programme also funds non profit interventions, with priority for project aimed at protecting the environment and promoting the social role of women.
